Publications
One of the missions of the Collège de France is to transmit the scientific and theoretical advancements in the research process. Working in partnerships, with other institutions, the Collège publishes a big variety of books and audio-visual documents.
The professor’s inaugural lectures: Solemnly conducted by every new professor when starting his lessons, the inaugural lecture is simultaneously the description of the state of the art of a discipline and the presentation of a research program. Since 1949, these lectures are edited under a series of booklets and published by Fayard since 2003. As a result of the association of the Collège de France with the CNED (Centre National d'Education à Distance) and Doriane Films, the lectures are also available in audio, video and, DVD format since 2000.
The yearbook Cours et travaux du Collège de France reflects every year the scientific activity at the Collège de France. It essentially contains the summaries of the courses written by the professors themselves.
The collection of the College de France, published by Odile Jacob includes the annual interdisciplinary Conferences (“colloques de rentrée”), other conferences organized by professors, and some lectures given by invited professors.
The Letter of the Collège de France was created in January, 2001. The letter publishes three issues per year and its articles reflect the life of the institution and the various activities which take place there. Thanks to this publication numerous announcements and information concerning the professors and the chairs are given: reports of conferences and colloquia, interviews of professors presenting their courses and researches, current debates, presentation of the written documents published by the professors or by the Collège de France.
Electronic publications. Since June 2010, the Collège de France edits four collections under electronic publication format:
the Inaugural lectures,
the Yearbook,
the Letter of the Collège de France,
the Conferences (new and unpublished ones).
The texts are published in partnership with the CLEO (Center for Open Electronic Publishing) and they are available on the Collège de France website (http: // www.college-de-france.fr/default/EN/all / pub_elec / index.htm) and of the gate (portal) and also on Revues.org (http: // www.revues.org). These publications, give free access to unpublished articles, some of them constitute an important part of the history and the scientific life of the Collège de France, and some others, reflect the institutional life. The number of on-line volumes will increase gradually.
The Publications of the Institutes. The Institutes of the Collège de France publish regularly their researches in specialized works.
Conferences, interviews and documents: the Collège de France co-produces, within diverse partnerships (Cned, Doriane Films, Docside – Editions Montparnasse) a significant number of audiovisual and broadcasting documents (video and DVD), in particular the inaugural lectures and interviews.
