Résumé

In recent years, modern economic thinking has emphasized institutions and political economy dimensions as crucial determinants of development processes. At the same time, there has also been some renewed interest to understand the connections between cultural factors and various socio-economic outcomes across groups and societies. The purpose of this presentation is to take stock of these two strands of literature and to highlight how they may uncover jointly the role of culture and institutions as deep co-evolving factors in the political economy of development.
