Abstract
This paper provides an overview of Sumhu-rabi's correspondence, comprising some fifty letters, most of which have been previously unpublished. A former servant of Yasmah-Addu who rallied to Zimrî-Lîm, Sumhu-rabi was appointed governor(šâpiṭum) of Saggâratum no later than the middle of ZL 2 (ca. 1773 BC) and died before the middle of ZL 5 (ca. 1770 BC).
The correspondence falls into several categories : foreign embassy announcements, reports on the hydraulic system, district administration, diplomatic missions to Yamhad, and an important set concerning the Mâr-yamîna revolt and the quartering of allied Babylonian and Qaṭnean troops.
