The 2026 Shaw Prize in Life Science and Medicine was awarded to Prof. Hugues de Thé , a professor at the Collège de France and holder of the Chair in Cellular and Molecular Oncology; to Prof. Anne Déjean, professor emerita at the Pasteur Institute; and to Prof. Zhu Chen, a professor at Ruijin Hospital of the School of Medicine at Jiao Tong University, “for the discovery of the molecular and cellular basis of acute promyelocytic leukemia, and for the pioneering development of a synergistic targeted therapy that has transformed this disease—once one of the deadliest cancers—into one of the most curable.”
The Shaw Prizes, sometimes referred to as the “Nobel Prizes of Asia,” have been awarded annually since 2004 by the Hong Kong-based Shaw Charitable Foundation.
