Field of Research: Pharaonic Egypt (from prehistory to the Greco-Roman period), making it an integral part of the Ancient Near-East section at the Collège’s Institute of Civilizations (similar geographical scope, chronological concordance and identical interests). The Chair in Pharaonic Civilization has chosen to focus research essentially in the historical field. Specific periods of study include the New Kingdom (ca. 1550 BC – ca. 1077 BC) and late periods (750 BC - 332 BC).

A significant part of the Institute’s work is dedicated to the identification, analysis and commentary of written testimonies.

Activities at the Institute of Egyptology are both those of the Professor and of the research team he leads. Additional activities: publications (Egyptology Studies series, published as part of the Chair), contributions to scientific journals, participation in seminars and conferences and involvement in education (courses, doctoral thesis supervision).
