This library boasts a specialized collection on the subjects of Pharaonic Egypt and Christian Egypt, on hieroglyphic, hieratic, demotic and Coptic philology, linguistics and palaeography, on the epigraphy, history and archaeology of Egypt and Nubia, and, lastly, the portrayal of Pharaonic Egypt from the end of paganism up to the present day.
In addition, it holds the collections of scholarly archives of professors who were chairholders and of French and foreign Egyptologists, including collections of photographic archives as well as a collection of videocassettes.

Access conditions

Access limited to researchers, higher education professors and doctoral and post-doctoral students. Informed amateurs may be accepted after approval by the Director of the Institute.

Services available

On-site consultation, photocopies, information by post or telephone.

Periodicals are listed in the University Documentation System.

Catalogue

The catalogue is in the process of being computerized; therefore, not all of the works in the collection are identified.

Opening times

Open: Monday, 2-6 p.m.
Tuesday to Thursday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Closed: 15 July-8 September and during the Christmas and spring school holidays.
