Jan-Mathieu Carbon

DPhil Oxford (2012), postdoctoral research at the Universities of Liège (2012-2014) and Copenhagen (2015-2016), and most recently Fellow at Center for Hellenic Studies of Harvard University (2016-2017).

His research and publications focus on the numerous interchanges between epigraphy and religion, in particular the inscriptions called 'ritual norms', documents which notably define rituals of sacrifice and purification in ancient Greek communities. As Maître de conférence associé to the chair of Vinciane Pirenne-Delforge, his research project at the Collège de France is twofold: the continuation of the Collection of Greek Ritual Norms (CGRN), especially with regard to the study of Greek calendars, and the elaboration of a corpus of the inscriptions of Halikarnassos in collaboration with Signe Isager (Syddansk University) and Poul Pedersen (Univeristy of Aarhus).
