Jehan de Lescurel's chansons from manuscript BnF fr. 146

At the dawn of the 14th century, Jehan de Lescurel's chansons appeared at a pivotal point between courtly lyric poetry and the florescence of theArs Nova. The passage of the last known trouvère, Adam de la Halle, to Lescurel is shrouded in mystery. What meanders led from the courtly lyrical tradition to this new form of composition, still difficult to define today? Often forgotten, Jehan de Lescurel's work lies dormant in the manuscript BnF fr. 146 alongside the famous Roman de Fauvel, whose proximity attests to its high musical and poetic value.

The seminar will present the research work carried out on the musical performance of this work in collaboration with the ensemble Céladon, directed by Paulin Bündgen. The ensemble will provide musical examples to support these exchanges.
