    The lecture focused on methane and its role in the Earth's climate. We studied the CH4 cycleand recent developments, spatial variations in CH4 concentrations and sources, and natural and anthropogenic developments over recent decades, centuries and millennia. This has enabled us to identify the links between CH4and paleoclimatic changes. Finally, we addressed the specific case of methane hydrates.
