Reactive and intermediate species - louis Fensterbank.

Many organic synthesis methodologies involve reaction intermediates or transit via excited states. A constant challenge is to efficiently generate these highly reactive species under the mildest possible conditions by various activation methods in order to guarantee process selectivity.

The Reactive Species and Intermediateslecture will review the fundamental reactivities of various intermediates such as carbocations, carbanions, carbenes and radical ions and their heteroatom analogues. It will cover recent advances in these chemistries and the various activation methods involved, with particular emphasis on catalytic processes. Applications in organic synthesis, polymerization and materials chemistry will be presented.
