Overview

The Collège de France Publishing Department publishes about twenty books each year, covering all disciplines, in both print and digital formats. These works are intended for the research community, but also for a broader audience.

Opening lectures by new professors, course abstracts (published in the Annuaire du Collège de France since 1901), lecture series, conference proceedings, closing lectures, and exhibition catalogs: all are based on teaching or rooted in research conducted at the Collège de France. Some of these books are also published (exclusively in digital format) in English or other languages. The selection of manuscripts is overseen by the Council for Libraries, Archives, Collections, and Publications, composed of professors from the Collège de France.

Each new publication is available as open access upon release on the OpenEdition Books portal, in accordance with the Collège de France’s editorial policy. As a result, more than 250 e-books are now available online for free.

Printed books can be purchased or ordered at bookstores. They can also be obtained at the reception desk of the Collège de France’s heritage library. E-books are available for purchase at online bookstores.

Two collections of e-books, published under the direction of Collège de France professors—“Philosophy of Knowledge” and “Crossing Disciplines”—are also available on OpenEdition Books .

In addition to these publications, the Collège de France–Institute of Civilizations publishing division offers collections of scholarly books covering the thematic areas and geographic regions of the Institute of Civilizations: Japan, China, India, Tibet, Korea, Egypt, etc. Catalogs are also published to accompany some of the exhibitions organized by the Institute of Civilizations.

Finally, scholarly journals are published by chairs, laboratories, or research teams, some of which take on a particularly open and innovative format, such as Entre-temps , De facto, or La Vie des idées .
