Founded in 2012, the Institute of Civilizations at the Collège de France is one of the eight research institutes of the Collège de France. It comprises eleven specialized libraries, organized into four divisions. It also houses various collections of works that reflect research on civilizations in the fields of ancient and modern history, philology, epigraphy, and archaeology. The oldest of these, in Chinese studies, is nearly a century old. The collections on Asian civilizations (Chinese, Korean, and Japanese studies), along with the collections on Indian and Tibetan studies, are among the richest in terms of the number of published volumes and the diversity of subjects covered. The brand-new Egyptian Archives collection enriches this disciplinary spectrum by expanding the catalog to include works on Egyptology. The works in the collection are available in print and, eventually, will also be available in open-access digital format on Persée for heritage works and on OpenEdition Books for the most recent publications.
