Light-based quantum technologies
Light plays a special role in quantum technologies, just as it does in today's information technologies. Light itself can be used to carry quantum information over long distances, while preserving coherence to a large extent. It thus plays a key role in the development of quantum communications networks, as well as in quantum computing, which it enables to be carried out in a distributed and potentially secure manner.
Quantum light can also interact with all other physical systems, from natural and artificial atoms to quantum mechanical resonators. This makes it possible to create quantum interfaces, interlock quantum systems at a distance, probe the physical properties of various systems and create quantum sensors.
This symposium will bring together experts in light-based quantum technologies, with the aim of covering the broad spectrum of applications envisaged. The aim is to illustrate current advances in this field and to address future challenges.
