After two years of BCPST preparatory classes at the Lycée Henri IV, Louis joined the Chemistry Department of the École normale supérieure Paris-Saclay, where he followed a multi-disciplinary program at the interface of Chemistry, Biology and Physics. During his specific year of study (3rd ), he took the competitive examination for the agrégation in Chemistry, which he came second in. In his final year, he specialized in molecular chemistry, taking the M2 MOL course at Sorbonne University.

During his internships, Louis discovered and developed a keen interest in the problem of carbon dioxide reduction. He completed two internships on the subject: the first, in M1 at the University of Amsterdam, on the electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide in heterogeneous phase on a copper electrode; the second, in M2 at the Collège de France, on its reduction in homogeneous phase using molecular catalysts.

Since September 2025, Louis has been working on his PhD thesis under the supervision of Prof. Marc Fontecave and Dr. Yun Xu-Li, in the Chemistry of Biological Processes Laboratory at Collège de France. His work focuses on the synthesis and study of molecular, bioinspired and heterobimetallic catalysts for the electro- and photochemical reduction of carbon dioxide.
