This year, Denis Duboule ’s course will focus on On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, Charles Darwin’s work published in 1859. In this seminal text, inspired by Malthus’s ideas, Darwin develops a theory of natural selection illustrated by numerous illuminating examples, while also raising important theoretical questions. The course will offer a focused reading of this work and an interpretation informed by the most current scientific research in the fields of development and genetics.
