Overview
This year, Alessandro Morbidelli ’s course will cover the final stage of the Solar System’s formation, focusing on the formation of the terrestrial planets. After reviewing the vast array of chemical, isotopic, and chronological constraints derived from terrestrial, lunar, and Martian samples, the course will present both historical and more recent models of the formation of the terrestrial planets, highlighting the remaining open questions, particularly regarding the structure of Mercury. The formation of the Moon will also be discussed in the context of Earth’s formation.
