Law, Culture and Society in Ancient Rome
This year's lecture explores how Roman jurists, who were also writers, used metaphors to express and even forge their concepts, some of which are still ours today.
The seminar will continue with a reading of Ulpian's "On the Duties of the Proconsul", a kind of guide that allows us to see the Roman provincial governor in action, and to understand how his actions were bound by the law.
