Franck Courchampis CNRSResearch Director 1 at the Institut national d'écologie et environnement. At the University of Paris-Saclay, he heads a research team focusing on biodiversity dynamics and the impact of human activities on ecosystems and species. D. in biometry from Lyon University 1, he then worked at the University of California San Diego in the USA, then at Cambridge University in England, before being ranked first in the CNRS researcher competition in 2000. He is a visiting professor at the University of California, Los Angeles, USA, in 2014-2015. Author of three books and two hundred international publications, he is one of the world's most cited scientists in his field (" Highly Cited Researcher " in the international ranking " Clarivate Analytics ", which corresponds to the top 0.1 % of the world's most cited researchers in each discipline). He has authored reports for intergovernmental panels such as the Convention on Biological Diversity, the IPCC and the IPBES. Supervisor of over one hundred students at various levels, he is also very active in communications (notably with books and documentaries). In 2011, he was awarded the CNRS Silver Medal, and in 2014 was appointed to the European Academy of Sciences. Since 2020, he has held the AXAChairin Invasion Biology at the University of Paris-Saclay. In 2021, he was named Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Mérite, and in 2023 the Grand Prix de la Société Française d'Écologie et Évolution.
