Grégoire Brière is a Ph.D. candidate in international law in a joint program between Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University and the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium). He is writing a dissertation titled “The Consent of the Parties in Proceedings Before the International Court of Justice,” under the supervision of Professors Pierre d’Argent and Paolo Palchetti. He holds a dual bachelor’s degree in law and applied foreign languages (University of Western Brittany), an LL.M. in public international law (Leiden University, Netherlands), and a research master’s degree in international law and international organizations (University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne). His work focuses primarily on general public international law and the law of international litigation. Between 2022 and 2026, he served as a research assistant in international law at the Catholic University of Louvain under Professor Pierre d’Argent. There, he taught courses in international law and European Union law, and also taught international law and human rights at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. As part of his doctoral studies, he was awarded a fellowship from the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law (Germany) in the spring of 2026, enabling him to conduct a research stay there.
Since September 2026, Grégoire Brière has been a temporary teaching and research assistant (ATER) at the Chair of International Law of Institutions at the Collège de France, where he is continuing his research and completing his dissertation.
