Laurence Roudart is Professor of Population and Development Sciences, specializing in agricultural and food issues, at the Université libre de Bruxelles. She is Vice-Dean for Research in the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences at this university. Her work focuses on agricultural policies, food security policies, access to land for farmers, and technical and institutional innovations in the agricultural sector. Her work combines theoretical perspectives, mainly from political economy and agronomy, with observations and field surveys of farmers and other agricultural stakeholders. She has conducted fieldwork in Indonesia, Senegal, Egypt, Mali, Burundi, Haiti, France, Belgium and Germany. With Pr Marcel Mazoyer, she co-authored Histoire des agricultures du monde. Du Néolithique à la crise contemporaine, which has been translated into seven languages. She chairs the Wallonia-Brussels Federation's inter-university doctoral school in development studies. She is a member of the international steering committee of the Journal of Peasant studies, and a member of the Humundi association.
