Olivier Hermine, MD, PhD, is a professor of hematology at Université Paris Cité and head of the clinical hematology department at Necker Enfants-Malades Hospital, where he founded and coordinates the National Reference Center for Mastocytosis (CEREMAST). At the Imagine Institute, he leads a research group dedicated to the pathophysiology and treatment of hematological diseases, and founded the Inidex GR-Ex laboratory of excellence at Paris-Cité University, which focuses on red blood cells and their pathologies, as well as a research unit (RHU) focused on sickle cell disease. In the academic sphere, he actively participates in various major international networks focusing on lymphomas, mast cell-related disorders, retrovirus-related disorders, bone marrow transplants, and red blood cell disorders. He is an elected member of the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Pharmacy, the Royal Academy of Medicine of Belgium, and the Academia Europaea. Overall, his work aims to decipher the mechanisms underlying malignant and benign hematologic disorders in order to develop targeted and immunological therapies, integrating natural animal models with clinical research in hematology and beyond.
