After studying at the Universities of Neuchâtel (bachelor’s degree in law), Geneva (Ph.D. in Law), and Yale (LL.M.), and after practicing law, Vincent Martenet was appointed in 2005 as a full professor at the University of Lausanne and as a member of the Swiss Federal Competition Commission, which he chaired from July 1st, 2010, to December 31, 2017. He has also taught at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), the Institute of Higher Studies in Public Administration (Idheap), and the University of Geneva. During the fall semester of 2018, he was a visiting professor at the University of Paris II (Panthéon-Assas) and, in February–March 2022, a fellow at the Louvain Global College of Law at the Catholic University of Louvain. Since January 1st, 2021, he has also served as an associate justice of the Federal Supreme Court. From August 1st, 2021, to July 31, 2024, he served as Dean of the Faculty of Law, Criminal Sciences, and Public Administration at the University of Lausanne. He teaches Swiss and comparative constitutional law as well as competition law. He publishes and lectures in Switzerland and abroad in these fields.
