Abstract

This session explores the question of revolution, going beyond a strictly political reading to consider its cultural and intellectual dimensions. Revolution is seen here not just as an upheaval of legal or institutional structures, but as a more profound transformation of ways of thinking, in the legacy of the Enlightenment. It implies a philosophical theory of history that places collective progress at the center, understood as a shared orientation towards a fairer future. The idea of hope plays a fundamental role in this framework : it links faith in human capabilities with the practical reason that guides action. Revolution thus becomes a horizon of meaning where the community finds the resources to confront injustice, reinvent forms of solidarity, and inscribe present struggles within a broader movement of political and cultural transformation.
