We'll illustrate the wealth of approaches, from basic research to invention and innovation. We'll try to explain the role of market needs and the contribution of science and technology. Drawing on personal experiences (Leonardo da Vinci, Steve Jobs, etc.), we'll try to identify some of the personality and behavioral principles that led to spectacular innovations.
