Abstract

The development of the global economy faces multiple, intertwined planetary boundaries: global warming, biodiversity loss, ocean acidification, depletion of natural resources, and so on. Taking responsibility for living in the Anthropocene means considering all natural resources and ecosystems from the perspective of sustainable development. How can we select economic instruments appropriate for both local and international scales to manage the global economy without exceeding critical ecological thresholds?
