Sandrine Bourdoulous reminded us of the importance of meningococcal meningitis to health. She presented the results of her research, which has led to the precise characterization of the molecular mechanisms of meningococcal invasion, based on its ability to adhere to the vascular endothelium, proliferate and cross the blood-meningeal barrier.
