Round table with Rima Abdul-Malak, former Minister of Culture ; Olivier Mantei, General Director of the Cité de la musique - Philharmonie de Paris ; Pierre-Michel Menger, Professor at the Collège de France, holder of the Sociology of Creative Work Chair.
Moderator : Chloë Cambreling.

Abstract

The Philharmonie defends the idea that democratization and artistic excellence are not mutually exclusive, and that music and the arts will not be shared more widely by lowering ambitions, but by working on access routes, encouraging and supporting encounters, and defending the right to culture for everyone rather than " for all ". This is particularly true of the Collège de France, where the free dissemination of knowledge has been the institution's cardinal mission for nearly five hundred years, and where scientific excellence is never at odds with the sharing of knowledge and the pursuit of an ideal of emancipation through culture. So what are the challenges today for the democratization of culture and knowledge ? How are music audiences and practitioners evolving ? And how do people listen to music today ?
