Overview
This conference will build on the course material by bringing together researchers who explore the microbial world at various scales: molecular, cellular, community, ecosystem, and planetary. Its goal will be to compare these perspectives and identify the conceptual and methodological bridges necessary for an integrative understanding of microbial processes. The conference will feature scientific presentations, roundtables, and discussions focused on new experimental and computational approaches, as well as the interdisciplinary collaborations required by this shift in scale. It will also address the relationship between science and society, which is essential for sharing this knowledge, informing collective decisions, and establishing microbiology as one of the major scientific challenges of the 21st century.
