Continuing the projects set up since 2019, the Law, Culture and Society in Ancient Rome chair is once again organizing its doctoral seminar. This will focus on the lecture given by Prof. Mantovani from 11 March 2026 : " The body of law, "Corpus Iuris". Imagining law through bodily metaphors in Roman legal literature (2) ".

The first part of the seminar will consist of a discussion of the lecture. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions, particularly on the interpretations put forward by Prof. Mantovani. The second part will be devoted, in turn, to the presentation and interpretation of a text chosen by the participants in connection with the lecture and their research topics, for twenty minutes. This will be followed by a discussion.

Researchers at a more advanced stage of their careers are also welcome to participate, for the valuable contribution they can make.

The aim of this meeting is to encourage young researchers to exchange ideas on Roman law topics and their reception in medieval and modern times, midway between a seminar and a doctoral workshop. Other professors of Roman law, legal history and Roman history will also take part in the discussion.

Four sessions are scheduled at the Collège de France (site Marcelin-Berthelot), on Wednesdays March 18 , April 1st and 15 , May 13 and 27 (from 4 pm to 7 pm ).

12 young researchers can participate.
