Shaw Prize for Biological and Medical Sciences awarded to Pr Hugues de Thé

The ShawPrize in Life Science and Medicine2026 has been awarded to Prof. Hugues de Thé, Professor at the Collège de France and holder of the Chair in Cellular and Molecular Oncology, Prof. Anne Déjean, Emeritus Professor at the Institut Pasteur, and Prof. Zhu Chen, professor at Ruijin Hospital, Jiao Tong University School of Medicine " for the discovery of the molecular and cellular basis of acute promyelocytic leukemia, and for the pioneering development of a synergistic targeted therapy that has transformed this disease, once one of the deadliest cancers, into one of the most curable ".

The Shaw Prizes , sometimes referred to as "Asia's Nobel Prizes ", have been awarded annually since 2004 by the Hong Kong-based Shaw Philanthropic Foundation.
