Noa Ranzer has been studying Near Eastern archaeology at Tel Aviv University since 2016. Her master's thesis examined the production and functions of Scarabs, a type of Egyptian seal that she approaches as objects revealing social ties, drawing on research in various social science disciplines.

Her doctoral thesis focuses on the functions of seals in the Iron Age (c. 1150-550 BC), their impressions and their archaeological contexts. This research is part of the Seals of the Southern Levant project, a collaboration between the Universities of Tel-Aviv, Zurich and Bern.

In her current project, she proposes an in-depth examination of the seals, based on microscopic analysis and 3D acquisitions. This work will enable her to broaden the scope of her research into questions concerning relations between social groups in the ancient Near East in the second and first millennia BC.

Noa Ranzer is the recipient of the Anna Caroppo Scholarship from the Fondation du Collège de France 2025, proposed by Thomas Römer, Chair The Hebrew Bible and its Contexts.

Research project title : " The production and functions of seals in the Southern Levant compared with surrounding regions ".
