Yousuke Kaifu (born in 1969) is a Professor at The University Museum at The University of Tokyo, Japan. His work focuses on reconstructing the history of humanity (especially in Asia) through the study of the fossil record. He focuses on the emergence and diversification of different Homo erectus populations, the evolution of Homo floresiensis, modern human migrations during the Pleistocene, and the origins of the Japanese people.

As a hands-on researcher, he led a project re-enacting the voyage of humans from Taiwan to Japan more than 30,000 years ago. They used no smartphones no, no watches, and no maps.
