Overview

This series of lectures focuses on key events in human evolution in Asia over the past 2 million years. Asia is a vast continent with diverse climate zones and ecosystems, ranging from tropical rainforests and the temperate zone to coastal areas, offshore islands, highlands, deserts, and Arctic regions. How did pre-modern (archaic) and modern humans pioneer, adapt to, and develop their cultures in these challenging environments? As reviewed here, recent discoveries and studies highlight that Asia was one of the most fascinating frontiers of Pleistocene human evolution, dispersal, and diversification.
