This series of lectures focuses on key events of human evolution in Asia during the last 2 million years. Asia is a vast continent with diverse climate zones and ecosystems, ranging from tropical rainforests and the temperate zone to coastal areas, offshore islands, highlands, deserts and Arctic regions. How did pre-modern (archaic) and modern humans pioneered, adapted, and grew their cultures in these challenging environments? As reviewed here, recent new discoveries and studies highlight that Asia was one of the interesting frontiers of Pleistocene human evolution, dispersals, and diversification.
