The human mind is tempted to break things down into their component parts, but the elements of the living world are extremely interconnected. Taking these interactions into account is essential for understanding living systems and predicting their future dynamics. Origin of mitochondria and chloroplasts, Wolbachia, holosymbionts. Cross-linking of living organisms. Metabolic dependencies.
