Abstract

Over the past decade or so, the study of social networks in ancient Egypt has expanded considerably, thanks to the incorporation of sociological concepts and the use of quantitative methods drawn from network analysis. These tools help to identify the structures of various networks (family, court circles, etc.) and to better understand the mechanisms of social advancement not only for individuals but also for entire social groups, whether they be elite groups at the royal court or local elites. At the same time, the study of women in ancient Egypt is experiencing a significant revival. The analysis of the networks of queens, princesses and priestesses represents an interesting area of research that allows us to examine their role within power networks (formation, maintenance, renewal), as well as the trajectories of these women within these networks.
