    The paper (in English) will consider what we can reasonably know about Joseph as a historical person. Topics discussed will include (1) family background (a Davidic family), (2) connexion with Bethlehem and the family's settlement in Nazareth, (3) occupation: meaning of tekton ["carpenter"], (4) the family farm, (5) marriage(s): was he a widower when he married Mary? (6) descendants.
