Jean Casimir is a professor in the Faculty of Humanities at the Université d'État d'Haïti and holds a doctorate in sociology from theUniversidad Nacional Autónoma de México. A former official of the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (1975-1988), Jean Casimir is also former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United States of America and Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States (1991-1997). His publications include La Culture opprimée (1980); La Caraïbe, une et divisible (1992); Haïti et ses élites, l'interminable dialogue de sourds (2009); Haití de mis amores (2012); Une lecture décoloniale de l'histoire des Haïtiens and La Nation haïtienne et l'État (2018).
