Judith van der Waerden

Judith van der Waerden is a "chargée de recherche" (CRCN) at INSERM and leads the ESSMA team (Épidémiologie Sociale, Santé Mentale et Addictions) within IPLESP UMR_S 1136 at Sorbonne Université, Paris. Her research focuses on the intergenerational transmission of parental mental health and its consequences for child and adolescent development, with particular attention to the contextual factors and causal pathways that shape this relationship. Adopting an integrative approach, her work combines psychosocial and biological indicators to uncover the mechanisms linking parental psychopathology to child outcomes, within a life course framework. She draws on large French population-based cohorts, and is actively engaged in the development and evaluation of preventive interventions.
