This colloquium is part of a wider project to examine a series of Spanish intellectuals of the early 20th century, seen as citizens of the world and witnesses to their times. The approach is resolutely interdisciplinary, combining the history of ideas, the history of the arts, literature, aesthetics and philosophy. The first study day was devoted to Eugenio d'Ors, and resulted in a publication entitled Eugenio d'Ors l'Européen (2023). This new colloquium devoted to Unamuno will follow a common thread, considering the tensions at work in Unamuno's thought, his evolution, and the overcoming of nationalisms in a cosmopolitan world
overcoming nationalism through cosmopolitanism. Unamuno's eclectic approach allows us to examine the relationship between philosophy and literature, between literature and the history of European culture
european culture, for example through the figure of Quixote, as well as through his
european receptions. Studies will bring together specialists in history, art history, literature and film analysis. Focus on Unamuno at will examine an entire historical period
