Abstract
Twenty years of research dedicated to shaping matter at the micro- and nanoscale have enabled us to create, within optoelectronic materials, artificial atoms capable of emitting photons—these particles of light—one by one. In 2015, these advances in basic research met a need among researchers and engineers who were developing new light-based quantum technologies. This led to the creation of the startup Quandela, with the goal of accelerating this research and technological development. Since 2020, the company has been working on the development of the first photon-based quantum computing machines.
Pascale Senellart
Research Director at the CNRS, specializing in the generation of quantum light using semiconductor components. A member of the French Academy of Sciences and the French Academy of Technologies, she is a co-founder of the startup Quandela, which develops quantum computers. She served as a visiting professor in the Technological Innovation Liliane Bettencourt Annual Chair in 2025–2026.
