Death of Roger Guesnerie

Roger Guesnerie - patrick Imbert, Collège de France.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of Prof. Roger Guesnerie, holder of the Chair in Economic Theory and Social Organization from 2000 to 2013, which occurred on January 3 2026 at the Salpêtrière Hospital.

Roger Guesnerie's work offered a critical analysis of the rational expectations hypothesis. He was a leading specialist in public economics, particularly public economic calculation and questions of social insurance and redistribution.
Roger Guesnerie was also at the origin of the notion of the ecological interest rate.

We offer our condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
