Presentation
On the occasion of the European Heritage Days on September 16 and 17 2023, the Collège de France opens its doors to you for an exceptional itinerary of visits to two historic sites, enabling you to appreciate the richness and diversity of its heritage.
On the Marcelin-Berthelot site, the Collège de France's assembly hall, where its professors hold their deliberations, will be open to the public during these days. The public will be able to discover the furniture and paintings, and meet some of the professors. The tour will also provide an opportunity to discover the Collège de France's historical heritage, the archaeological digs that have been carried out there and its various spaces. Books published by The Collège de France Publishing Department, some of which will be autographed by their authors, as well as various souvenir items, will be on sale at the ephemeral boutique opened for the occasion.
On the Cardinal-Lemoine site, just a few minutes from the Marcelin-Berthelot site, the public will have access to the garden level of the Institute of Civilizations of the Collège de France, reopened after seven years of renovation. The Institute of Civilizations brings together all the professorships, laboratories and eleven research libraries of the Collège de France dealing with the great civilizations, as well as the groups and societies studied by anthropology and ethnology. Mini-conferences given by professors from the Institute of Civilizations will be offered, subject to prior registration.
A treasure hunt organized for young visitors, linking the two sites, will enable them to discover the Collège de France through a series of enigmas.
