Patrick Boucheron’s book *The Black Death* does not merely offer a new interpretation of a major episode in medieval history; it brings about a more profound shift in the way we construct the objects of the social sciences. By drawing on insights from genomics, Paleoanthropology, and environmental sciences, he invites us to reconfigure the frameworks through which the plague has been understood—whether in terms of its temporalities, its spatial dimensions, or its modes of transmission. The goal of this study day is to explore the kind of interdisciplinary approach proposed by Patrick Boucheron.
