He is a molecular biologist specialised in developmental gene regulation. During his PhD, he studied (i) how Pol II pausing regulates gene expression dynamics throughout embryogenesis and (ii) the role of transcription in genome architecture, both using the fly embryo as a model and a combination of optogenetics and genomics.
In his current postdoctoral project, he aims to study the spatiotemporal dynamics of enhancer–promoter communication over the course of gastruloid development—as a model of early mammalian embryogenesis—using a combination of genomics and imaging.
