Abstract

This first lecture will present the general context of research on the influence of immune signals, in particular cytokines, on behavior. It will focus on recent work showing how circulating or local immune signals act on specific brain nuclei to modulate anxiety and social interactions, including isolation behaviors. This lecture will highlight how immunity can directly influence complex behavioral functions.
