Abstract
Electron transfer-mediated functionalisation offers new avenues for the formation of carbon–carbon and carbon–heteroatom bonds from readily available and abundant feedstocks. We have been developing new photocatalytic systems as versatile synthetic tools that enable the efficient conversion of aryl halides, carboxylic acids and other precursors into functionalised products, utilising single electron transfer (SET) and proton-coupled electron transfer (PCET). The seminar will highlight progress in the development of new SET- and PCET-based catalytic approaches to challenging synthetic targets and their potential applications in organic synthesis.
