Abstract

Part I - Our approach to cross-coupling uses sulfoxides to activate substrates as sulfonium salts. In particular, sulfonium salts, generated from arenes,1 and new sulfonium salts generated from alternative feedstocks,2 can be exploited in photocatalytic and photochemical coupling processes.

Part II - We use a radical relay approach to carry out catalysis with SmI2alone . The application of SmI2 catalysis provides expedient access to bicyclic systems, including bioisosteres.3

Au-catalyzed ynamide activation for divergent and selective molecular construction.
