2026 Nobel Prize in Chemistry

The Collège de France is delighted that the 2026 Nobel Prize in Chemistry has been awarded to Henri Kagan, whose “discoveries have played a decisive role for chemists designing reactions for the manufacture of pharmaceuticals,” according to the Nobel Committee.

This honor recognizes an exceptional scientific career that began at the Collège de France. As a young researcher, Henri Kagan earned his Ph.D. there in 1960 with a dissertation on steroid chemistry, under the supervision of chemist Jean Jacques, before becoming a research associate to Alain Horeau, who held the Chair of Organic Chemistry of Hormones from 1956 to 1980 .

The Collège de France extends its warmest congratulations to Henri Kagan on this prestigious honor, which crowns a remarkable scientific career.
