As part of the En Quête d'infofestival and the cycle " Collège de France : faire connaissance ! ", the Marguerite Duras media library will welcome Claudine Tiercelin, honorary professor at the Collège de France, for a talk on " La vérité à l'ère de la post-vérité " on Saturday 11 April 2026 at 11 h.
Truth has always been the subject of an ambivalent attitude : a hollow word, an abstract ideal, a pure reflection of political, religious or even sectarian power, but at the same time one that we can't do without. We distrust truth, we no longer believe in it, we feel cheated by the political and scientific authorities who are supposed to guarantee the values associated with it. And yet, in these post-Verialism times, the thirst for truth and the need for trust, sincerity and authenticity have never been so strong. After analyzing the reasons behind this paradox, due in large part to misunderstandings surrounding a concept that is, after all, banal, we will present the salient phenomena of the post-veritist era, without underestimating the novelty and seriousness of the threats it poses to our anchorage in reality, and we will show why, and by what means, the search for truth and knowledge, more than ever, is imperative.
This event is part of the " Collège de France: get to know each other "cycle , developed in conjunction with the City of Paris library network.
